United Make First Signing?

United Make First Signing?

Reports emanating from the press today suggest United may have already started their summer spending spree; with the capture of Welsh youngster Aaron Ramsey from Cardiff City.

Now we here at Vital United don`t usually falls prey to the tabloid talk of such newspapers as The Mirror and the Manchester Evening News; yet on this occasion their could be an element of truth in it.

Reports suggest Sir Alex tabled a bid of £5 million for the 17-year old just 24 hours after lifting the clubs 10th Premier League Crown. The FA Cup Finalists are said to be very interested in the deal; but wish to postpone any official comment until after Saturday`s showdown with Portsmouth.

Now admittedly, I know little of this "wonder-kid"; but have had the privilege of watching him earlier on in the season in the FA Cup Quarter Final with Middlesbrough. The day passed him somewhat, yet glimpses of real promise were evident for the player dubbed as being the "new-Scholes" (...though I though that was what Anderson was bought for).

So, I guess we must all speculate fore the time being, but feel free to comment if you have any other information on the player other than my admittedly sparse knowledge given above. But in the meantime, we can all catch-up on our POSSIBLE new signing on Saturday, when he is likely to play some part.

He's an exciting prospect but will reserve further judgment until I see him in a United shirt.

Good grief! He's British too!! Silly me - we're all fancy rich EUROPEAN nowadays. And you wealthy sods are in already snapping him up. He's 17/18. I suppose it's all big business now. I hope my club (Cardiff City) having nurtured him will have the sense to say 'no - you can't have him just yet - come back in a year when he'll have had the chance to find out what he's about and get himself ready for your level of football' - but we'll miss when you steal him away a bright young talent so don't stick him in your reserves trotting out in front of 400 - he's great when he gets a crowd going so look after Aaron - make him a million but make him happy .. the Premiership is nothing to do with real British football any more is it?

Nice, seems a promising kid. Most likely will play in the reserves though with Possebon. Of course thats if the rumour is true. I'm still hoping for Veloso and Huntelaar! :D

£5 million for a 17 year old? Has the world gone completely mad?

How humiliating- what idiots we look now. I for one thought Ramsey was a definite, and was pleased with how our signings were shaping. Now Arsenal have potentially one of the hottest properties in club football. I really thought the Ryan Giggs Welsh thing would swing it, but it's unlucky Fergie was on holiday, and so couldn't meet him. I wish Ramsey all the luck, but I just hope this doesn't come back to haunt us. I can just see it in a couple of years: "United target Ramsey drives Arsenal to double". I hope I'm wrong, but I do fear this could be a major coup for Arsenal.
