Three Years Of Heartache

Wes Brown wants to put behind him three years of injury heartache and lift that trophy on Sunday. It may not be the title or the Champions League, but at this moment in time it is the one to set him on his way to further glory.

The list is frightening: cruciate ligament operations on both knees, a broken ankle and various muscle ailments that have stalled his glittering career. He even celebrated winning the 2003 Premiership title on crutches!

Brown: 'I have probably missed almost three years with injury. Every time I get back, I just hope it won't happen again. I am not one to complain. I just get on with it and try to get myself fit.

'I am an easy-going guy and I never got frustrated, although I can see how others would.

'Really, considering the number of injuries I have had, I am pleased to have played so many matches. I am just glad to still be here and that the manager has faith in me.'
