Vidic Fit For Saturday

Newspapers suggest that Nemanja Vidic has sufficiently recovered to play against Chelsea tomorrow.

Vida, suffering from gastroenteritis, missed Wednesday's uninspiring stalemate in Barcelona. His deputy, Wes Brown, performed marvellously but I think everyone will be relieved if he regains his place in the starting eleven.

Having said that, I'd say that we should not take risks. Though out of the Premier League's (and possibly the whole world's) centre-backs Vidic is the singularly best equipped to deal with Didier Drogba, if we offer the same resistance we did in the Nou Camp we could get a result even without him.

In the second leg of the Champions League semi-final, however, he will be desperately needed as Barcelona will have more space to attack us on the break. Though I foresee another cautious, tight game.

Of course if he's ready to play 90 minutes in the space of four days, then so be it!
