Rio Signs For Five Years

Agent Pini Zahavi claims Rio Ferdinand have agreed on a new five-year contract with Manchester United.

The negotiations have been going on for a while now and as Ferdinand frequently stated he wanted to stay it looked certain that the agreement would be reached soon.

'This new deal will take him beyond 34, but it won't be his last contract and in all probability it won't be his last contract at Manchester United,' his agent Zahavi told the Daily Express.

'Rio is very, very happy there, he wanted to stay and they wanted him to stay.

'Of course he could have gone to another big club but he did not want to.

'I believe he can play longer than Maldini - and they believe so at Manchester United as well.'

I don't know if he can really play longer than Maldini - that would mean another decade - but it's certainly true that I wanted him to stay. Gone are the days when he could be pictured as immature and irresponsible: now he's captain material.

Best CB in the world at the moment. You must be pleased with him signing.

We are. Unfortunately, he's the best CB only when Vidic is playing alongside him... but it does not really bother me. He's a great defender anyway but with Vidic they look like being out of this world!

top class player, no surprise he has been tied to a long term deal.
The Fear
I'm glad he's signed even though I still haven't forgiven him fully for meeting with that **** Kenyon!!!
