Pre-Season Jaunt To Africa

Pre-Season Jaunt To Africa

Pele once said an African nation would win the World Cup by the year 2000. It didn't happen, but there is no doubting how football is taking off in the African continent. And United will head to South Africa for a three-match pre-season tour this summer.

They have panned a 10-day trip from July 13-23, during which time they will play matches against local sides.

None of their World Cup players will be involved.

They are already committed to competing in the four-team Amsterdam tournament on the first weekend in August and plan a 'grand-opening' of the new, extended, 76,000-capacity Old Trafford at some stage before the opening Premiership game on August 19.
