Evra Talks Up The Defence

25 goals conceded in 46 competitive games, Community Shield and Carling Cup included. That is United's defensive record this season.

I don't think that more stats should be required to explain why I agree with Evra when he says we have a magnificent defence.

'In Europe, I believe we have the best defence. Do we defend more in Europe than in the Premier League? Yes, but that is maturity.

'We know in the Champions League we can't play as we do in the Premier League. We can't rush to attack.

'I don't just want to play in a Champions League final, I want to win it - I said that when I signed for Manchester United.

He's quite right - we defend majestically at times. Only Arsenal, Dynamo Kiev, Manchester City and Coventry could score two goals in one game against United this season - and that's incredible. And that's why we should fear losing Vidic.

Evra, though, quickly added that he does not think the tie is already over.

'But it is too early to talk about that [winning the Champions League] now as we have not won the return match. It is not over yet. We played with a lot of concentration and respect towards our opponents.

'I don't want to experience an unbelievable scenario, it would be the disaster of the year.

'In the return leg, Roma may play a great match, and maybe they will have Totti back, so we have to take care. Everyone talks about the 7-1 match, but it was a one-off.'

Perfect timing, just as we may well loose Nemanja for the rest of the season. We lost him at the same time last year but fingers crossed.

They were super last night, OShea filled the gap superbly. Hope Vidic isn't too badly injured.

Vidic had his first scan and the knee was too swolen so he has to undergo a second one tomorrow.Early signs not good, sounds like ligaments...f@ck,thats his season over.Step up O'Pie.
