Courageous Ron Says We Deserved It

Courageous Ron Says We Deserved It

Not many players, especially not wingers would have dared to stick their head into situations like what Ronaldo faced at the first goal. He had to meet it at top speed with Cassetti (I think) arriving and doing his best to crash into Ronaldo or the ball.

However, he did not back out of the challenge and powered the ball home to give United the crucial lead. It was his 36th goal of an incredible season and it looks like he can score against anyone.

"It was a very good performance," he told ITV. "It was a tough game, Roma played very well but I think we deserved to win.

"I feel happy to have scored the goal to help the team. We`ve got the second leg at home in a week and we will play to win for our supporters as we did here.

"The defence was terrific. The shape, the way they squeezed Roma. It was a fantastic performance, they did a really good job."

I also happen to think we deserved to win and I also think that we have a very good chance of going all the way. Ronaldo shares my view.

"I think we have a great chance this year. The team is playing fantastic football and we are more mature than last year.

"We know the Champions League is different to the Premier League. This is a great competition and of course we want to win it this season."

And we'll never have a better chance.
