Rampant Ronaldo

Rampant Ronaldo

Manchester United midfielder Cristiano Ronaldo stretched his lead at the top of The Actim Index, the official player ratings system of the Barclays Premier League, after another sensational performance.

Ronaldo set United on their way to a 4-0 win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford with an outrageous flick from a corner and the winger also contributed 21 passes, two dribbles and two crosses.

The Portugal international, surely odds-on to pick up the Footballer of the Year award, posted 55 points to extend his lead to 105 over Liverpool striker Fernando Torres (593) and was also named in the Team of the Week.

Team-mate Rio Ferdinand, who captained England in the recent friendly against France in Paris, joins Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez (fifth with 514 points) in the top 10, the defender sitting eighth with 478 points.

Analysis of all Premier League games is taking place throughout the season and the players in the Actim Index Team of the Week are:

Name, Team, Position, Weekly Score

David James, Portsmouth, Goalkeeper, 23

William Gallas, Arsenal, Defender, 35

Ricardo Carvalho, Chelsea, Defender, 32

Glen Johnson, Portsmouth, Defender, 30

John Terry, Chelsea, Defender, 28

Cristiano Ronaldo, Man Utd, Midfielder, 55

Nicky Butt, Newcastle, Midfielder, 37

Matthew Taylor, Bolton, Midfielder, 33

Geremi, Newcastle, Midfielder, 32

Mauro Zarate, Birmingham, Striker, 46

Fernando Torres, Liverpool, Striker, 42

The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player`s contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, assists, clean sheets, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards.
