'There will be changes' according to Sir Alex Ferguson's latest press conference. Man United take on Aston Villa at Old Trafford looking to at least maintain their five point gap at the top of the Premier League whilst quietly hoping Arsenal and Chelsea slip up in one way or another.
The changes of course refer to Fergie admitting he has one eye on the forthcoming Champions League Quarter-Final against Roma next week - with injuries and fatigue a concern to the United boss. Darren Fletcher, who was expected to play against Martin O'Neill's side, is out for 6 weeks after picking up a knee injury after playing 90 minutes for Scotland in midweek, whilst Nemanja Vidic and Park-Ji Sung have only just returned from lengthy trips for their country.
Fergie blasted friendlies as 'futile' whilst adding 'every manager deep down thinks they're a waste of time' and questioned the lack of thought behind mid-season international friendlies when leading clubs have domestic and European commitments.
In a bumper media briefing, the 66-year old Scot also highlights a return to form for Paul Scholes whilst looking ahead to Roma's hopes in depth.
