United's Best Is Similar To Best

United's Best Is Similar To Best

The sufficiently incomprehensible headline I managed to create pleases me but the feeling does not even come close to that of a Ronaldo goal.

And there's been plenty of them, as he's still in with an outside chance of beating Dennis Law's club record of 46 goals in a season - he needs to score 13 in as many games, and we'll have 13 games only if we reach the Champions League final so it's a big ask.

However, Ronaldo surpassed George Best's record for most goals scored as a winger and in Sir Alex's opinion he deserves to be compared to the late lamented great from Belfast.

"There are certainly similarities," he told Manchester United Radio.

"When George played as a winger I don`t think he ever stayed still. He roamed from side to side - he played on the right, the left and through the middle.

"I`ve looked at Best`s goals and a lot of Cristiano`s are similar. He starts from wide positions before cutting inside. The boy`s in tremendous form right now.'

Yes, Best played on the left, played on the right, made England look... but never mind that now. Ronaldo's next challenge should be to beat Fergie's record: the boss proudly boasts that he scored 45 in 51 games for Dunfermline in 1965/66!

I thought Paul Jewels comments after the recent Derby game were funny. When asked about Ronaldo he reckoned "if only Ronnie was good looking he'd have everything".Amazing talent!!!

Best will soon be in the shadows of Ronaldo.
