No Loan Deal For Foster

There are still noe news about the actual extent of Edwin van der Sar's injury. However, he is doubtful for the game at Pride Park on the weekend after picking up an injury against Portsmouth.

His usual deputy, Tomasz Kuszczak will serve a one-match ban and is therefore unavailable for that match. In their absence it looks certain that plans to loan out Ben Foster to a Championship club to gain match fitness will be scrapped.

The 24-year-old, previously tipped to challenge Edwin van der Sar for the no. 1 shirt, has missed the last 10 months with a cruciate ligament injury. Thrusting him straight back into first-team action appear hazardous to say the least but Sir Alex has little to choose from unless he hands a debut to 19-year-old Tom Heaton.

It is quite a blessing that of all Premiership teams, Derby come up. As their attacking play is virtually non-existent, the best defence in the country should have little trouble of dealing with them thus leaving the keeper, whoever he will be, completely unoccupied. And even if we concede three goals because of Foster's lack of match practice, we still should be able to score five in return.
