'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fergie scathes ref! (AUDIO)

The 75,463 packed into Old Trafford surely weren't expecting this! In a quite unbelievable match at times, Manchester United huffed and puffed but no matter how close they were, just couldn't blow down Portsmouth's house in the FA Cup Quarter-Finals.

The match was full of talking points from pretty much the first whistle when Cristiano Ronaldo was felled in the area by Sylvain Distin, but referee Martin Atkinson waved away the adamant protests.

Ultimately, Tomasz Kuszczak, who came on at half-time for groin victim Edwin Van Der Sar, saw red for bringing down Milan Baros in a rare foray into the United half and Sulley Muntari lashed past stand-in Rio Ferdinand from the spot to take Pompey to the semi-finals for the first time since 1939.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson was livid at full-time, and left himself in no doubt who cost him a place at Wembley.
