'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Foster Remains Patient

Ben Foster did not return yesterday but could play a reserve game in two weeks' time.

Gary Neville completed 61 minutes in yesterday's 2-0 defeat against Liverpool reserves in the Reserves League - but we will not focus on the neverending story of our skipper.

I have a nagging feeling that Ben Foster, though he's already written off his chances, might be more likely to play this season than Gary. But he's patient.

'All is going well. I've probably got two weeks to go before I can play my first reserve-team match,' he said.

'The reserve game with Liverpool last night would have been ideal with a good crowd but it was thought to be a week too early.

'They held me back from that but I've been out for eight months so another two weeks isn't going to kill me.

'I've been in full training now for the last two months and I've just started back training with the first team, a bit of contact stuff, shooting and crossing and things like that. Generally all is going well. The knee feels good. '

He added that though he does not think he would play this season, he still believes he'll get the chance to become number one for both United and England.
