FA Cup: Another Premiership Opponent

Surprise surprise. The FA clearly wants a United v Chelsea final again. And clearly they wish that we negotiate our way through top-flight opposition all the time.

The path is clear. We will play Portsmouth at Old Trafford on the weekend of March 8/9. If we go through (and it's highly likely given Pompey's atrociuos record at Old Trafford) we will meet Middlesbrough in the semi-final if they beat two Championship sides at home.

Meanwhile Chelsea waltz through lower-league opponents and will await us in the final eagerly to repeat last season's victory. Very exciting, isn't it? No, I know it isn't.

Another, even more cruel scenario would be to squeeze an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea into April when we will face them in the league, will have a little meeting with Arsenal and travel to unpleasant places like Middlesbrough and Blackburn...

Wouldn't it be better to send out the U18 and go out against Pompey? And why can't we once face a lower league team if my wish of meeting Chelsea so early could not be guaranteed?

agree, send out the kids - they arent a patch on arsenal's kids so we could beat them :-) the gods have shined on us against ipswich, plymouth and preston they have shown their vengence on us now with a tie with united, and at old trafford no less... its gonna take a mighty fine effort to win but im not giving up hope - we'll do you, and without a replay ;-)

I'd like to see how Chelsea get humiliated at Wembley, a destroying 4-0 sounds nice to me.

You still have to beat us first and that’s not definite. We will give you a good game.

Gutted to get you & at your place again. 3 in 6 seasons. I was so desperate to get to Wembley & watch Pompey play there, even in a semi final & all we had to do was avoid you & Chelsea in the draw. Livid. Yes we have a chance but I'd still rather have Cardiff etc.
storagematt
no surprises here... we will probably beat pompey as we always do at old trafford... and get ready for another stinkfest of a cup final against chelsea
Vidicinho
