Rooney Wants Chelsea - Good Idea!

Rooney Wants Chelsea - Good Idea!

Wayne Rooney was in bullish mood after a brilliant display against his favourite opponents Arsenal: he now wants the only Big Four team against whom he never scored a winner.

United are through to the quarter-finals after smashing Arsenal 4-0 at Old Trafford - and Rooney wants an even bigger fish in the next round.

"I hope we get Chelsea," he told MUTV.

"Personally, I`d like to play them at home and try to knock them out. After that we`ll be through to the semi final and I`m sure we can take things from there."

Apart from avenging last season's painful final defeat, a game against Chelsea at Old Trafford is desirable because of another aspect.

It would come between the home game against Lyon and the away game against Derby. While it's not easy to play Chelsea after an important Champions League game, it would be much better than playing them in April when we are due to face them and Arsenal in the league and with any good fortune we should be involved in a Champions League quarter-final, too.

There are very few Premier League teams remaining in the competition so it looks like we shall have to beat Chelsea if we want to win it. I, for one, do not want another United v Chelsea final and do not wish to play another hellishly difficult game in April. So bring them on in the next round!

P.S.: I am of course aware of the reality: we will probably get Portsmouth or Middlesbrough away (if they negotiate their games today) while they will face Bristol Rovers at Stamford Bridge.

chelsea still very close to arsenal and manchester in the league, when chlsea didn't have huge part of it squad during most of the year. now, when the injured players are back as well as the ACN players, we will see what's the different between the kids to the mature. no ronaldinho=no manchester...Shrek has too much courage as a second best!
