With the opening of the January transfer window now a day closer to opening, it remains to be seen what the first piece of transfer activity, involving Manchester United, might be.

Earlier this week we reported,Click Here how a deal for the Swedish defender currently on the books of Benfica, Victor Lindelof may be struck during the January window.

However, it appears that might not be the case, or if it is then the fee Manchester United will have to cough up for the player will be a lot higher than first anticipated.

Appearing in the Daily Mail, this morning is the inference that, despite reputed interest from Manchester United, Lindelof is set to sign a new contract with the Lisbon based club.

Furthermore, our referenced source is also of the opinion this new contract will raise the buy-out clause, for Lindelof, to a fee in excess of £50 million.
